Daffodils, Business, and Motherhood: Finding Beauty in the Chaos

Finding Beauty in the ChaosSpring is almost here, and my garden (or at least my hopeful vision of one) is calling. I recently came across a book featuring daffodils—those bright, cheerful flowers that seem to announce, "Hey, you survived winter! Now let us thrive!" It made me think about how much their growth cycle reflects life as a mom entrepreneur.

Like daffodils, we plant seeds—whether in our careers, families, or hobbies—without knowing exactly how they will bloom. Some seasons are vibrant and full of energy, while others feel like we are just lying dormant, waiting for the right conditions to thrive again. And let us be honest, some days definitely feel like being buried under a pile of dirt, hoping we will break through the surface soon.

The Parallel Between Flowers and Business

Running a business while managing motherhood is like gardening. Some plants (or projects) take off instantly, while others need constant tending before they show progress. And then there are the weeds—those distractions, doubts, and never-ending to-do lists that threaten to choke out the things we are trying to grow.

Daffodils do not need much attention to flourish. They can thrive in a variety of conditions, endure tough weather, and still come back year after year—just like us moms. Even when we feel like we are barely hanging on, we keep showing up, keep growing, and somehow, keep making life beautiful.

Balancing Passions in the Midst of It All

I often struggle with feeling like there are not enough hours in the day. Between work deadlines, school pickups, dinner prep, and that mysterious pile of laundry that somehow regenerates overnight, how do we carve out time for things that bring us joy?

For me, gardening (even if it is just thinking about gardening) is one way to reconnect with a sense of calm. For you, it might be tennis, reading, painting, or simply taking a moment to breathe. The important thing is remembering that just as a daffodils beauty does not happen overnight, neither does the work we put into our passions, families, and careers.

Speaking of making time for passions, I recently started using a daily journal/planner to keep everything organized. It has helped me prioritize both business goals and personal time, which makes a huge difference in how I balance everything.

A Reminder to Keep Blooming

So, as spring approaches, let this be a gentle reminder: you are growing, even when you do not see immediate results. Keep planting, keep nurturing, and when the time is right, you will bloom beautifully.

What is your version of gardening? How do you balance your passions while juggling everything else? Drop a comment—I would love to hear!
